Convection Ovens Countertop

Delonghi

DeLonghi is a well established name in the home appliance market, and the DeLonghi Convection Oven is another example of DeLonghi’s commitment to the home small appliance market.

The DeLonghi EO1270B 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven is a multi function, six slice toaster oven that not only toasts, but also bakes (with convection and without convection), broils, slow bakes and performs as a warmer. The convection cooking function employs a fan to circulate hot air throughout the chamber, distributing heat faster and more evenly, resulting in reduced cooking time while at the same time, while achieving a perfectly browned outside and a moist inside.

The DeLonghi’s Durastone II enamel interior resists scratches while at the same time aids in the even distribution of heat. Its large 12-1/2 liter capacity provides more than enough space to bake a side dish or to cook a couple of 12 inch pizzas. The unit also includes easy-to-use controls to set the temperature and cooking program, a removable crumb tray to handle the excess crumbs and other food particles, and finally a contemporary stainless steel finish that complements modern kitchen decor. Cleaning is a breeze, and is accomplished by simply wiping down with a damp sponge. The unit is also supplied with a Durastone II low-profile bake pan and broil tray, two additional wire racks, and of course, instructions. This great countertop convection oven is designed and engineered in Italy. The Delonghi oven measures approximately 19 by 15 by 9.5 inches.

DeLonghi’s Convection Toaster Oven employs convection heating to achieve an even application of heat during cooking. Its large capacity provides enough space for a 12 inch pizza or other entrĂ©es. Convection cooking, in conjunction with enamel interior works with forced circulated hot air to distribute heat quickly and evenly. Food finishes faster depending on size and the presence of other food in the chamber. You can employ both racks at the same time to simultaneously cook different dishes. To clean the Durastone II interior, just wipe with a damp sponge. This unit’s multiple cooking functions meets just about every family oven cooking need. The stainless steel finish goes well with just about any kitchen decor. Easy, straightforward controls allow you to quickly control cooking program and temperature.

On the plus side, the Delonghi cooks well and evenly, with time savings when the convection feature is activated. The unit feels well thought-out, and the input controls are intuitive.

On the negative side, the main rack on this unit is reportedly a bit flimsy and rides low inside the chamber. Ditto for the trays. Previous DeLonghi owners are lamenting the seeming loss of quality. The fan is quite noisy, so it probably isn’t practical to hang out in front of this countertop convection oven while carrying out a conversation when the unit’s convection feature is active.

There are a couple of good DeLonghi countertop convection ovens in the market today. The unit we just covered was the DeLonghi EO1270B 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven. Also worth considering is the DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie. The DeLonghi RO2058 sports a large 20 liter chamber that provides very decent space for baking a side dish or cooking a 12 inch pizza. The unit’s rotisserie spit detaches for loading, and also for cleaning. When the rotisserie spit is in use, the bake pan may be employed to catch splatters, spills and drips. Also, this unit employs simple manual controls for setting the cooking program and temperature, and like the DeLonghi EO1270B, it comes with a removable crumb tray, an easy-to-clean nonstick, an interior light, and a modern design that fits in nicely with modern kitchen decor. The RO2058 is provided with the following accessories: a flat rack, a non-stick bake pan and a non-stick broil tray.
